On May 2, 2024, the Department of English Philology and Translation of the Faculty of Social and Linguistic Communication of the Horliv Institute of Foreign Languages of the DVNZ DDPU held a scientific and educational event Linguostylistics and Translation: Research and Practice. During the meeting-joining of the guests, those present had the opportunity to watch a series of videos about our Institute (which has been a center of dignity, intelligence, innovation and opportunities for 75 years) and about research aspects and features of translation. The English-language event was prepared by philologists-translators - students and master's students of educational and professional programs "Philology. Translation (English and German / French)" of the bachelor's level and "Translation and intercultural communication (English and German / French)" of the master's level: Kateryna Fedchun, Polina Morgun, Elizaveta Novokhatnia, Mykhailo Psaryov, Yulia Onyshchenko, Khrystyna Bila; the head of the specified programs and the scientific student group "Linguistics and Translation" - candidate. philol. of Sciences, associate professor O.A. Yasinetska In a warm educational atmosphere, the participants of the event got acquainted with various philological curiosities and took an active part in relevant tests and quizzes regarding translation concepts, current research topics, translation of idioms and pseudo-internationalisms ("false friends" of the translator), methods of concretization and integration, translation of movie titles, overcoming interference on the condition of understanding the differences between punctuation in English and Ukrainian languages, artistic means and textual and cinematic interpretations of "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" by A.K. Doyle in the Ukrainian language, strategies of domestication (domestication) and alienation (foreignization) on the example of the creative and professional approaches of outstanding Ukrainian translators - Mykola Lukash and Hryhoriy Kochur, as well as the essential principles of quality translator work.
