International Wednesday. Round "THE BLACK MENAGERIE"

On March 19, 2025, as always, on Wednesday, another round of international cooperation between 8 universities started. After a series of organizational meetings between teachers, the topic of presentations and discussions was approved - “Futures and Transcultural Competence: the Black Managerie”. The term The Black Menagerie comes from the work 'The Three Tomorrows of Postnormal Times', the authors of which are J. Sweeney and Z. Sardar and encompasses the concepts of Black Elephants, Black Swans and Black Jellyfish. The Black Menagerie strategy helps develop the ability to anticipate and plan in times of uncertainty, contradictions and chaos.

The relay race was started by the University of Ecuador (Universidad del Azuay). For their presentation, they chose the metaphorical image of the Black Jellyfish, under which they examined the problem of “digital misinformation”. The speakers distinguished between the concepts of misinformation and disinformation, modeled options for the development of society during the flourishing of fake news (digital utopia and digital dystopia), and outlined possible ways to combat the phenomena of misinformation and disinformation. The applicants-participants of the project Zalesova V. (gr. 411b), Silkina V. (gr. 400), Teslyuk A. (gr. 400), Psarev M. (gr. 541), Melnyk S. (gr. 504a), Peftits V. (gr. 241) and Klymenko O. (gr. 512a) were left with extremely positive impressions of the discussions. Traditionally, for the fourth session, the project is led by Ph.D. Shlapakov O. S. and Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Sukhovetskaya L. V.
