The Bakhmut period of our existence has already passed into history. That is why we are so interested in receiving news from Bakhmut residents scattered around the country and the world, and recall the years of our first move to Artemivsk.
(Bakhmut), we look at photos and videos of the pre-war city with sadness and are reminded of the photos of its present-day appearance…
There are various ways to preserve the memory of a city. One of the most valuable is to record the pages of its history in writing. The final chord of the last academic year was an online meeting of students, teachers, and employees of the institute with one of the authors of the book “And There Was a Theater…” V. L. Sutkov, who is well known as our active stakeholder. The work is dedicated to the history of the Artemivsk (Bakhmut) Drama Theater. Representatives of the educational community of Bakhmut and Dnipro, museum workers of the cities of Bakhmut and Chasiv Yar took part in the meeting. Volodymyr Lukych presented the work, spoke about the features of its source base, and shared plans for the future.
“The appearance of the book “And There Was a Theater…” became a landmark event not only for the people of Bakhmut, but also for all residents of the Donetsk region. Today, local history research is not just relevant, they are symbols of our resilience,” V. I. Romanko, head of the Donetsk regional organization of the National Union of Local History Scholars, emphasized at the meeting. He also emphasized the timeliness of the publication of the work in a year when the community of local history scholars is preparing for the 100th anniversary of the organizational launch of local history research in Ukraine.
The discussion of the study was also attended by the director of the Bakhmut Museum of Local Lore I. A. Kornatsky, teachers of the Department of Domestic and Foreign History – Y. R. Stukanova, G. P. Dokashenko, V. O. Bohunenko, and students of the Faculty of Social and Language Communication.
We sincerely wish the authors success, creative inspiration and encouragement!
