On August 27, 2025, a solemn event dedicated to meeting freshmen was held at the Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages. It was a day full of warm emotions, new acquaintances, and useful information, which marked the beginning of a new stage in the lives of students.
The Acting Director of the Institute, Tetyana Mikhailovna Marchenko, addressed the first-year students with a welcoming speech. She wished the students confidence in their abilities, perseverance, and a thirst for knowledge.
Then, Deputy Director Nataliya Oleksandrivna Beznosko addressed the audience, sharing tips on quickly adapting to student life, emphasizing that the institute always supports proactive and creative students.
Freshmen also had the opportunity to meet the deans of the faculties:
- Valentyna Gavrylivna Marakhovska, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Language Communication,
- Roman Mykolayovych Sitnyak, Dean of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Languages.
Important information about the possibilities of scientific development was provided by the head of the scientific work department, Lyudmila Volodymyrivna Tkachenko, who spoke about the participation of students in research, conferences, and projects.
Anna Sergiyevna Popovskaya spoke in detail about the conditions for receiving an academic scholarship, and Nataliya Valeriyevna Kovalskaya, head of the trade union committee and the literary and artistic club “LITERA”, invited students to join the creative activities of the institute.
Special attention during the event was paid to the work of the Center for Psychological Resilience and the “Warm Wednesday” project, which were created to support the emotional well-being of students. Its head, the head of the Department of Psychology, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor Tetyana Valeriivna Borozentseva, spoke about the activities of the Center and the “Warm Wednesday” initiative.
And about the work of the department for organizing educational work, which helps students adapt, organizes events, supports volunteer initiatives, and creates opportunities for personal development, the head of the department, Kateryna Oleksandrivna Zhurbylyuk, spoke. At the end, the freshmen were congratulated by the head of the student council, Iryna Denysenko, who called for active participation in student self-government, cultural events, and projects of the institute.
During the meeting, the head of the department for monitoring the quality of higher education, Olga Titova, introduced the applicants to the main areas and work plan of the department, and also learned about their own role in the formation of a quality educational environment. Olga Borysivna emphasized that students are full-fledged internal stakeholders of the institute, who can influence the educational process not only through student self-government bodies, but also individually - through their own active position.
Special attention was paid to the principles of the quality monitoring department. Its activities are not aimed at control for the sake of control, but at ensuring that the educational process meets modern standards, creating comfortable learning conditions and increasing its efficiency. In this context, students were presented with feedback tools: regular anonymous surveys and an electronic trust box, which allow everyone to participate in improving educational activities.
"Quality education is created not only by teachers, but also by students. Your voice really matters," emphasized Olga Borysivna, urging first-year students not to stay on the sidelines, to share ideas, and to talk openly about problems.
The atmosphere of the event was warm and friendly. The first-year students received important information, met with teachers, administration, student council, and felt like part of the big GIIM family.
🎓 The Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages sincerely welcomes freshmen and wishes them inspiration, interesting discoveries, new friends and bright student years!
