Restoring historical roots

The Department of Domestic and Foreign History initiated the IX Scientific and Practical Online Conference "Regional Studies in the Civilizational Dimension": directions and prospects for progress" in the format of a "round table". For the first time, we held our event without the person who was the initiator of the historical conferences in Gorlovka, then in Bakhmut - Viktor Mykolayovych Dokashenko, and we dedicated the event to his memory.

This time, the topic of discussion was the event of 1429, which took place in Lutsk - the Congress of the Monarchs of the States of Europe. The event was held in response to a public request, which was reflected in the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dated May 13, 2025 "On the Celebration of the 600th Anniversary of the Congress of the Monarchs of the States of Europe in Lutsk". The Organizing Committee of the conference invited as keynote speakers lecturers from higher education institutions, our partners in various projects and grants:

Kraliuk Petro Mykhailovych, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the National University "Ostroh Academy";

Karlina Oksana Mykolaivna, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.

They professionally and thoughtfully provided information about the event itself and its significance in both domestic and world history. The main attention in both the reports and during the discussion was paid to determining the place of this congress in the history of diplomacy and international law, because it actually laid the foundation for meetings of the leaders of European countries.

The meeting was attended by representatives of higher and secondary schools, employees of museums of the cities of Bakhmut and Chasiv-Yar, more than 80 people in total. This indicates the importance of that ancient event today, when our country is walking on the path of European integration. Most participants expressed a desire to make such meetings of scientists and teachers-practitioners traditional.
