On November 5, 2025 at 6:00 PM, another "Warm Wednesday" – a meeting that traditionally brings together not only students, but also all psychology enthusiasts. The topic this time sounded especially relevant: "Rest: a need, a privilege, or a life strategy?"The host was Svitlana Perepadysta, a 4th year undergraduate student majoring in Psychology at the GIIM.

Svitlana suggested looking at rest not as a luxury or a perk, but as a basic human need. She explained that rest is not just about sleep or a break from work, but about a deeper restoration of internal resources, reducing stress levels, and the opportunity to hear ourselves. During the meeting, we discussed how rest helps us restore physical and mental energy, integrate experiences, and establish contact with our own feelings.

In a philosophical context, the topic also took on an interesting sound: Aristotle, who considered leisure to be the highest form of activity, existentialists who emphasized the importance of "being" and not just "doing," and Eastern teachings, where rest is considered a natural part of the rhythm of life, were mentioned. The presenter also raised the issue of workaholism - a psychological addiction to work, which is often perceived as a virtue, although in fact it deprives a person of balance.

A separate focus was Olena Tararina's diagnostic exercise about rest, where everyone could see which areas were in balance and which needed to be worked on. Also, the well-being model PERMA Martin Seligman, who reminds us that a fulfilling life consists of positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and achievement, and all of these aspects are impossible without rest.

The atmosphere of the evening was truly warm: participants shared their own observations, laughed, reflected, and allowed themselves to just be. This “Warm Wednesday” reminded us that rest is not an escape from life, but a way to maintain energy, self-care, and the ability to live consciously.
