Press release of the 3rd educational seminar for young researchers                       

On November 28-29, the 3rd educational seminar on archaeology for young researchers "Archaeological Medzhibizh: on the agenda is not only a shovel..." was held.  The seminar was held in in a mixed (face-to-face and online) format within the framework of the program "Days of Science-2025" in the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Mezhybizh": ARCHAEOLOGY".

The event was organized The State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Mezhybizh", the regional center of research projects of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Mezhybizh", the scientific research project "Terr AmadocIAE", Khmelnytskyi Regional Public Organization "Permanent Archaeological Expedition "Medzhibizh-2000" with the support and participation of the Department of Archaeology of the Early Slavs of the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; the Department of Archaeology and Museology of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; the Department of Archaeology of the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy"; the Department of History, Archaeology and Tourism of the Volodymyr Dal East Ukrainian National University; the Department of Archaeology, Special Historical and Legal Disciplines of the Ivan Ohienko Kamyanets-Podilskyi National University; the Department of History of Ukraine, Archaeology and Special Branches of Historical Sciences of the Volodymyr Hnatyuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University, the Department of Social Disciplines of the Khmelnytskyi Humanitarian and Pedagogical Academy and Department of National and Foreign History of the Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages of the Donbas State Pedagogical University.

On November 28, the seminar was opened with a plenary session. V. – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Research Fellow at the Department of Bioarchaeology of the Institute of Archaeology of the NAS of Ukraine, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Archaeology of the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”, Assistant Professor at the Department of Archaeology and Museology of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; Ryzhov S. M.. – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Archaeology and Museology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; Semenchuk S. O. – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Disciplines of the Khmelnytskyi Humanitarian and Pedagogical Academy, Head of Archaeological Practice; Strotsen B.S.. – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Senior Researcher of the Department of Regional Archaeology of the State Enterprise “Research Center “Protective Archaeological Service of Ukraine” of the Institute of Archaeology of the NAS of Ukraine, Lecturer of the Department of History of Ukraine, Archaeology and Special Branches of Historical Sciences of the Volodymyr Hnatyuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University; Nadvirnyak O.V. – coordinator of the “Terra Amadociae” project, executive secretary of the regional center for research projects of the DIKZ “Mezhybizh”, research associate of the archaeology sector of the DIKZ “Mezhybizh”.

The seminar was held within the framework of three thematic blocks. In the work of the thematic block "To the results of the study of the territory of Medzhybozh, Medzhybizh Castle and Medzhybizh archaeological microregion in the seasons 2021-2025." (moderator of the thematic block O.G. Pohorilets) presentations and reports were made by seven speakers who study or work at the Khmelnytskyi Humanitarian and Pedagogical Academy, the Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University, the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University, the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, the Ivan Ohienko Kamianets-Podilskyi National University, and the Mezhybizh State Historical and Cultural Reserve.

To participate in the work of the thematic block "General and Specific: Problems of Theory and Practice of Archaeological Research" (moderator of the thematic block V. S. Vetrov) were joined by nine more young researchers with presentations and reports, who, in addition to the aforementioned institutions, represented the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, the Central Ukrainian National Technical University, the Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University, and the Institute of Archaeology of the NAS of Ukraine.

On November 29, the seminar continued within the framework of the thematic block "To the funds of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Mezhybizh" (moderator of the thematic block O.V. Nadvirnyak). Ten participants of the event gave reports and presentations. Of particular interest was the speechHmelyk Vladislava – 3rd year undergraduate students of the Faculty of Social and Linguistic Communication (Department of Domestic and Foreign History) of the Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages of the State Higher Educational Institution “Donbass State Pedagogical University” on the topic "Medal-like pendants from demonetized Roman denarii (collection of DIKZ "Mezhybizh"). We sincerely congratulate our student on her successful performance at such a prestigious scientific gathering, which brought together participants from almost all of Ukraine.  Following the results of the thematic blocks, there was an active discussion of the presentations and reports presented.

The seminar continued with a round table discussion: "On the agenda is not only a shovel...: plans and tasks of the archaeological season MEDZH-026"The seminar participants were joined in the roundtable discussion by Pohorilets O.G. – Director of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve “Mezhybizh”, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of “Days of Science-2025” at the State Historical and Cultural Reserve “Mezhybizh”: ARCHAEOLOGY; Kostenko I.M. – restorer of the 2nd category, head of the restoration center of the State Conservation and Conservation Museum "Mezhybizh" and other participants of the seminar.

The head of the archaeology sector of the Mezhybizh State Archaeological Research Center informed those present about the plans for archaeological work and the continuation of research on the territory of Medzhybizh, Medzhybizh Castle and Medzhybizh archaeological microregion in the 2026 season. In turn, the head of the organizing committee of "Days of Science-2025" at the Mezhybizh State Research and Development Center: ARCHAEOLOGY; Director of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Mezhybizh" Pohorilets O.G. thanked the seminar participants for their fruitful work, for their interesting and relevant reports and presentations, and wished them a successful winter session. He expressed his gratitude Yu.M. Brovenderu, G.P. Dokashenko, M.V. Kubliu, S.M. Ryzhov, S.O. Semenchuk, B.S. Stroceniu for active participation in the seminar, for supporting its participants and the organizing committee, and also invited to participate in the archaeological season of MEDZH-26 and the next one - the IV seminar of young researchers.

Based on the results of the work, a specialized collection of materials from the reports of the participants of the III seminar is being prepared for publication.

Only over time do we begin to pay attention to the small details in the photos. What seemed to us insignificant, not worth paying attention to, gains weight and becomes important... And only over time do we begin to regret that mundanity, the moments that are already in the past.
