together with Sofia Lavreniuk — Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology, specialist in disability and inclusion 🧠
During the meeting, participants discussed the modern understanding of disability and the importance of rejecting stereotypes and prejudices. Particular attention was paid to the human rights approach, which considers disability not as a problem of an individual, but as a result of a person's interaction with barriers in society.
Participants explored different models of disability, discussed the concepts of inclusion, accessibility, and barrier-free environments, as well as the role of society in creating equal opportunities for all people.
During the meeting:
✨ performed an exercise on the relationship between a person and their image, analyzing the impact of stereotypes on the perception of people with disabilities
✨ got acquainted with the medical, social and human rights models of disability
✨ shared their own experiences, thoughts and observations about inclusion in everyday life
✨ discussed the importance of correct and human-centered communication with people with disabilities
