"BORIVITER" BY ALLA GORSKA: THE DISCOVERY OF THE NEW

Today's class at the literary and artistic club LITERA was different from the previous ones, because we never talked about the art of mosaic. Photography, watercolor, graphics are closer and more understandable, but mosaic... And how many artists who worked in this technique are known to us?

So, this time we talked about the exhibition dedicated to the outstanding Ukrainian artist Alla Horska. Recently, an exhibition of her works and members of her team was held in Kyiv, in the People's House. The organizers of the project filled almost five floors of this magnificent building with photographs, memories of contemporaries, sketches, works, letters, documents... And the documents testified to the difficult times of our history and the role of the individual in society.

It so happened that a large number of Alla Gorska's monumental works remained on the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. And the most famous works - "Boriviter" and "Tree of Life" were almost completely destroyed during the shelling of Mariupol in 2023...

Alla Gorska, Vasyl Symonenko, Vasyl Stus - people who were not afraid to express their opinion in difficult times of our history, and, like that bird from the mosaic, flew against the wind. Modern Ukrainians should know about them.
