One of the tasks of the Erasmus+ BURN project "Strengthening Psychological Resilience and Well-being of Universities in (Post-)War Ukraine", of which the Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages is a participant, is the creation (or modernization) of the Center for Psychological Resilience and Well-being to provide psychological support to all participants in the educational process.
The Department of Psychology of the GIIM has had a Psychological Support Center since 2022, where students and employees of the institute can receive individual consultations, as well as participate in educational and psychocorrectional group online events (in particular, webinars and master classes within the framework of Psychology Week, weekly meetings "Warm Wednesday").
Thanks to participation in the BURN project, the Center's psychologists not only had the opportunity to learn from the experience of similar centers in higher education institutions in Estonia, Latvia, and Germany, but also significantly improved their professional skills. The project allowed the Center to reorganize its structure and provide it with the necessary equipment.
New directions and expanded possibilities of the Center's work were reflected in Regulations on the Center for Psychological Resilience of the GIIM, which was developed by joint efforts of the project teams. Active participants in the working group for the development of the Regulations from the GIIM were Kateryna Zhurbilyuk (GIIM psychologist) and Snizhana Stepanova, senior lecturer at the Department of Psychology.
The draft Regulations were discussed with the administration of the institute, agreed with curators from European partners and approved by the Academic Council of the Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages. May 28, 2025.
Summer plans – furnishing the Center premises and preparing for its official opening in September 2025. Work continues!
