On July 17, 2021, an event "Cinema and Literature in the Perspectives of Interaction" was held in the assembly hall of the institute as part of the courses on preparation of entrants for admission to higher educational institutions. The curator of the meeting was Dr. Philol. n., Professor, Head of the Department of World Literature Komarov SA The event consisted of two parts. In the first future entrants were offered a popular science lecture, which covered the history of cinema, the points of contact and differences of cinema with other arts, literature, in particular; the problem of the influence of cinema on the literary text and the peculiarities of the reverse process - the reception of literature in cinema - are briefly revealed. Listeners with interest and enthusiasm received the lecture materials, expressed their own opinions and observations. The second part of the meeting was devoted to watching Tim Burton's film "Sleepy Hollow" (1999), film adaptation of a short story by the classic of American literature Washington Irving. After the screening, there was a lively discussion of the film - in terms of comparison with the original source, genre originality of the film, use of tools and techniques of cinematography (editing, flashbacks, suspense, cameraman and artist, music design, special effects, etc.), ironic tone of the film.
