Millions of Ukrainians honor the ideals of freedom, democracy, patriotism and courage of their citizens.
History of the holiday:
The Day of Dignity and Freedom is one of the most significant public holidays in the recent history of Ukraine. It is dedicated to two revolutions in Ukraine - the Orange Revolution of 2004 and the Revolution of Dignity in 2013. Every year, Ukrainians celebrate the Day of Dignity and Freedom on November 21, the anniversary of the start of Euromaidan. The purpose of introducing the commemorative date was to establish the ideals of freedom and democracy in Ukraine, to preserve and convey to modern and future generations objective information about the fateful events in Ukraine at the beginning of the 21st century.
This day commemorates the patriotism and courage of citizens who, in the fall of 2004 and in November 2013 - February 2014, stood up for the defense of democratic values, rights and freedoms of man and citizen, national interests of the Ukrainian state and its European choice.
