Open meeting of the scientific seminar "Adaptations of classical literature in the language of cinema"

On February 22, 2024, the Horliv Institute of Foreign Languages held an open meeting of the scientific seminar "Adaptations of classical literature into the language of cinema", at which the students of the 4th course presented their research on the problem of screen adaptation of a literary text.
The students' performances were immediately preceded by a brief speech by S. A. Komarov, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of World Literature, about the typology of screen adaptation. The main attention in this preface to the analytical presentations of the awardees was given to "new reading" as a manifestation of the most free approaches to film interpretation of a literary work.
The following presentations were made at the scientific seminar:
1) "J. Austen's novel "Emma" and its film versions: "Emma." (2020) and "Durnogolovi" (1995)" - Yuliya Linnyk (412-b)
2) ""A Christmas Carol in Prose" by C. Dickens through the prism of cinema (films of 1951 and 2009)" - Valeriya Vorotilova (412-b)
3) "Film interpretation of O. Huxley's novel "Brave New World" (1998)" - Mykola Rolich (411-b)
4) "Adaptations of R. Bradbury's novel "Fahrenheit 451" in films by F. Truffaut (1966) and R. Bahrani (2018)" - Elizaveta Kravchenko (411-a).
Presentations by young scientists of their work caused a lively reaction, questions and comments from the audience, among whom were students of 1-5 years of our institute, teachers and guests from other universities.
The Department of World Literature of the GIIIM thanks the speakers for their interesting speeches and bright presentations!
