"Intercultural Communication" and "Info-Media Literacy and Critical Thinking" programs are in action!

On April 18, winners - students of the "Intercultural Communication" DVV course had the opportunity to participate in a joint ZOOM session with students of the University of Florida (USA), students of the course of Professor Svitlana Yarozhynski. The event consisted of two parts. In the first part, Ukrainian and American students got to know each other and exchanged presentations on the topic "Symbols, values, traditions and superstitions in my country", discussed them in separate zoom rooms, and discovered cultural commonalities and differences between our countries. The second part was called "How fakes are created and propagated" (How fakes are created and propagated) and was devoted to discussing the problem of disinformation and fake news. The discussion took place on the material of the coverage of the terrorist attack on Crocus City Hall by the world, Ukrainian and Kremlin media on March 22, 2024. Summing up, students of both universities jointly shared conclusions on Jamboard (see screenshots), and once again confirmed that they are ready to draw the right conclusions and consume information responsibly.
The participants of the meeting, who took part in the 1st semester of the "Info-Media Literacy and Critical Thinking" course at the Department of English Philology and Translation (introduced as part of the Erasmus + MultiEd project), benefited from the knowledge they gained about types of false information, ways to counter false information news, working with different information sources, and the consequences of consuming propagandistic and unverified information.
