38TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CHERNOBYL NPP ACCIDENT

38TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CHERNOBYL NPP ACCIDENT

On April 26, 1986, the whole world realized that the atom is not peaceful at all, that radiation knows no boundaries. Since then, every year we remember this tragedy and those who tried to eliminate its consequences at the cost of their lives. Today, the tragic events of the Russian-Ukrainian war – the occupation of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 2022 and the occupation of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, which is still ongoing – are added to the memory of the events of almost forty years ago. As then, 38 years ago, we honor the memory of those who save lives today, who protect the country, giving us the opportunity to study and work.

The Department of Domestic and Foreign History of our institute, together with the Bakhmut Museum of Local Lore, with the support of the Department of Youth Policy and Children's Affairs of the Bakhmut City Council, held an online event "Circle of memory "Bells of Chornobyl".

Winners of the educational and professional program "Secondary education (History). Psychology", operating with specialized knowledge of history and psychology, recalled the chronology of the events of that spring (Valeria Tkachenko, gr. 202a), demonstrated the consequences of the Chernobyl tragedy (Vladislava Khmelyk, gr. 102a), characterized the coverage of this disaster in sources of personal origin, works of literature and of art (Myroslava Marchevska, gr. 302a).

The event was attended by a graduate of the Faculty of Social and Language Communication, Vladyslava Marchevska, who emotionally recited poems by Ukrainian poets dedicated to the Chernobyl events.

Students and teachers of the Faculty of Social and Linguistic Communication took part in the discussion of the topic, who called on the world community to help Ukraine in every possible way in the fight against Russian aggression.

Chornobyl bells - we hear! Chornobyl bells - we remember! Chornobyl bells - we honor!
