Prado: Bicentenary

Learning a foreign language is always accompanied by immersion in the culture and traditions of the people. That is why the teachers of the Department of French and Spanish decided to join the large-scale celebration of the 200th anniversary of one of the world's largest museums - the Prado, located in Madrid, which was officially opened in 1819.

As part of the celebration of the anniversary on May 15, 2019, Associate Professor Kokorina LV held an open media lecture on the Prado Museum. The guests of the event learned about the history of the museum and the peculiarities of its formation and operation, as well as partially acquainted with the museum's funds, which include the most complete collection of Spanish paintings. The pearl of the museum is a collection of works by the famous Spanish artist Diego Velázquez, whose birthday on June 5, 2019 marks 420 years. The story of interesting facts and events was accompanied by vivid videos and digital and printed illustrations.

At the end of the event, the speaker offered to test the listeners' attention with the help of online testing on the Kahoot platform. The winner of the quiz received a prize - a set for creativity.

A virtual tour of the Prado Museum was another highlight of the 70th anniversary celebrations at the Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages.
