Day of European Languages

Day of European Languages

European Day of Languages has been considered a traditional holiday in Europe since 2001. It is celebrated on September 26 to inspire Europeans to learn languages. Today, knowledge of at least two foreign languages is commonplace for modern Europeans, as it is a path to mutual understanding between peoples and nations. In fact, the main goal of this day is to draw the audience's attention to the languages spoken in Europe, to spread cultural and linguistic diversity and to encourage their lifelong learning.

On this occasion, the Central City Library of Bakhmut City TG hosted a book exhibition and information event for students of Bakhmut Secondary School No. 11, prepared by students of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Languages of the Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages. The languages of European nations have been studied within the institute for more than half a century. Therefore, it is not up to the winners of Inyaz to join the celebrations and prove their love for foreign languages. Young linguists demonstrated their knowledge of English, German, French and Spanish, gave the opportunity to enjoy the melody of each of these languages and told interesting facts about the countries of European languages. In such an unpretentious atmosphere, students got acquainted with the peculiarities of English, German, French and Spanish and learned about the national characteristics of European peoples. In addition, the students were waiting for a competition for the best connoisseur of borrowings on the Kahoot! Platform, the winners of which received useful prizes.

All participants of the holiday learned a lot and received a lot of positive emotions, as well as good motivation to learn foreign languages.

Foreign languages are the key to the world that can be obtained at the Gorlovka Institute of Foreign Languages.
