The implementation of the Youth Worker Program began in 2014 with the support of the United Nations Development Program of Ukraine and in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the State Institute for Family and Youth Policy. The implementation of the Youth Worker Program in Ukraine is a unique opportunity to raise the professional level of representatives of civil servants and public associations working with youth, which will increase the number of young people involved in youth policy-making and strengthen national cooperation. and youth public institutions on the social development of youth.
The program is national. For the first time since Independence, a national-wide training program has been launched for professionals working with young people, based on the principles of cross-sectoral and cross-sectoral partnerships. For the first time, specialists working with young people are assigned to a separate professional group. Youth work is singled out as a separate professional field that requires specially trained professionals.
The program is based on the principles of non-formal education, which makes it accessible to a wide range of representatives of related fields. You do not need to have special education, letters of recommendation from management, be a representative of certain organizations, etc. to receive training under the Program. The only condition for participation is experience and desire to work with young people. In addition, participation in the Program is free for both the participant and the organization he represents.

Basic training is the first level of training of the Youth Worker program.
During the training, the participants received an incentive to develop the competencies of a youth worker and identified their own path of development. It was here that participants learned about youth policy in Ukraine, the content of youth work, what makes it special, why it is important to emphasize the participation and involvement of young people, what it means to be a youth worker in the community and how to develop their own youth competencies. work.
The program consisted of three modules:
Module 1. Youth policy and youth work
Key topics: Who are the youth? What is youth policy? Youth participation. Cross-sectoral approach. Youth work and youth policy. European approach to youth policy.
Module 2. Community and youth work in the community
Key topics: Community. Activation of the community. Youth work in the community. Cross-sectoral approach. Youth participation.
Module 3. Competences of a youth worker
Key topics: Youth worker. Competence approach. Competences of a youth worker. Portfolio of youth work of the Council of Europe.
During the training, participants exchanged experiences and found partners to implement joint projects in the youth field.
