This year, the main state document, the Constitution of Ukraine, turns 27 years old. Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Basic Law of our state on June 28, 1996, working on the final wording in the session hall all night. The complex and responsible process of drafting and adopting our modern Constitution began in 1990 and lasted for six long years. Since then, every year on this day, Ukraine celebrates the state holiday - Constitution Day, which emphasizes the extreme importance of this historical event for the future life of our country.

On this day, the Constitution of Hetman Pylyp Orlyk, which is more than 300 years old, is also remembered, which is considered the first written Constitution of Europe. By the way, two years ago the manuscript, which is stored in the National Archives of Sweden, first arrived in Ukraine for exhibition.

The Constitution of Ukraine is the main regulatory legal act of the state, which establishes the foundations of the social order, the state system, the system, the order of formation, the principles of organization and activity of state bodies.

The Constitution of Ukraine is our moral reference point, it guarantees human rights and freedoms, regulates relations between the state and society. The Basic Law is a certain guide for the country and every citizen, every article of the Constitution is a guarantee of the existence of the state. 

Today, in the conditions of a full-scale Russian invasion and numerous crimes of the occupiers, we all evaluate the value of the values laid down in the Constitution of Ukraine in a new way. The Basic Law is the core of the consolidation of the Ukrainian people.
