In April-May 2023, two trainings on the topic were organized for applicants of psychological specialties "Reducing the risk of gender-based violence during family life planning."
The class was conducted by Tornike Kasrashvili, a graduate of the State Institute of Medical Sciences, a practicing psychologist. This training deepened the knowledge, skills and practical tools of the applicants, which they acquired within the educational disciplines "Psychology of the family" (4th year), "Psychology of sexuality" (2-4th year), "Methodology and organization of socio-psychological and public trainings » (5th year).
The training materials were developed under the "Safe Life" program, which is implemented as part of the "Providing emergency aid and protection services to the population affected by the conflict in Ukraine" project with the financial assistance of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, ADH and NAK-karitative.
The presenter's bright, exciting and professional work during the three-hour online conversation made it possible to consider the important and topical topic of combating gender-based violence from different angles.
The participants of the class were convinced that insufficient awareness of the problem and awareness of gender roles lead to inequality in relationships, which at the same time can lead to violence. The training helped to understand the importance of mutual respect, equality and cooperation in family planning; made it possible to understand the gender stereotypes underlying inequality and violence in families; provided participants with tools to identify and develop conflict prevention strategies, develop interpersonal communication skills, and resolve conflict situations.
According to the feedback of the participants, "such trainings help to understand that violence is not the norm and has no place in family life", "contribute to improving the quality of people's lives", "inspire them to be active agents of change in their communities".
